Doctors and Their Crimes: Hiding Behind the White Coat – What Happens When Doctors Betray Our Trust
We trust doctors with our lives. So what happens when a doctor breaks that trust? Doctors and Their Crimes: Hiding Behind the White Coat is a serious, readable look at that question, and it is now in stock at Javed Books, Lahore, with delivery across Pakistan in 1–3 days.
In this post, we explain what the book is about, who wrote it, and why it is worth reading for doctors, students and anyone interested in medical ethics.
About the Authors
The book is written by two practising general practitioners. Baroness Clare Gerada MBE is a GP in South London and a cross-bench peer in the House of Lords. Dr Zaid Al-Najjar is a GP and Medical Director at NHS Practitioner Health. Both have spent years working on doctors' health, which gives them an unusual, inside view of how and why things go wrong.
What the Book Is About
Drawing on high-profile real cases and their own clinical experience, the authors examine medical malpractice, fraud, manslaughter, sexual misconduct and abuse of power. Crucially, they look beyond the individual doctor to the systemic failures in healthcare and the law that allow such crimes to happen, and they also discuss sensitive issues such as racism, justice and professional accountability. The book is published by CRC Press (Routledge).
